This event center is a large dirt floor event center that will be located on the Woodbury County Fairgrounds. According to proposed plans, the center will be over 400 feet in both width and length that will contain a main arena along with warm up arenas and over 500 individual stalls ideally suited for the animals. The arena would be climate controlled. While the Center will primarily cater to equestrian activities, the Center will host other types of events appropriate to the forum.
An enclosed climate controlled arena permits events to be held 12 months of the year free from the effects of adverse weather related conditions. Having a facility of this magnitude in the area provides a huge economic boost as well. Events held at the center draw participants from hundreds of miles away necessitating the need for hotels, restaurants, retail stores, and equestrian supply establishments. As a facility that also caters to a broad range of recreational activities, both young and old can participate - thus forming strong bonds within the community.
The project is estimated to cost $6 million dollars. These funds would come from private donations, as well as from grants and special appropriations sought by Woodbury County. Once built and operational, the Center will be self supporting from projected revenue. Woodbury County will not have to rely on taxpayer dollars to support the Center. |
